This is Lord Lang, a former British government cabinet minister. I was covering the event for an author who’d just published a biography on a former Chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland, then Europe’s largest bank. The event took place on the day the bank was nationalised by the government, after it nearly collapsed. In attendance was Margaret Thatcher, who was responsible of the liberalisation of the financial services sector in in the 1980s.
Lord Lang, like many politicians, is comfortable with cameras up close.
Why I use a Leica:
I use Leica because it is discreet and unobtrustive. It works in low light conditions. I don’t have to worry about equipment, as Leica is the ideal choice for reliability. The camera always performs.
This shot was made in October 2008 with a Leica M6 and the Summicron 35mm f2.0 ASPH lens.

Very nice B&W shot. Gorgeous tones and the shallow depth of field isolates the subject in a great fashion. Very well executed!
