This photograph, taken at the newly remodeled de Young Museum tower in San Francisco, was one of the very first photographs I produced on my Leica M6 TTL. I was eager to test the camera, ran out to shoot in my neighborhood, loaded it with color film and came upon this beautiful uniquely dressed girl all by herself. All the elements – the girl, the fog and the overall composition, all came together to produce my favorite photograph so far. The serene scene of the tower all give the viewer a contemplative moment I managed to capture. After seeing the negative I knew I was hooked.
Why I use a Leica:
I love photography. A Leica rangefinder camera is a tool which helps a photographer create images. A rangefinder, depending on it’s frameline, let’s you see more in the viewfinder. This enables you to frame & compose photographs and see moments before you fire the shutter. Leica’s are legendary for their clarity, simplicity of use, durability and their lenses. When you combine all these elements, you’ll have a camera you can use for the rest of your life and beyond.

Love it! Interesting shot. Ideally, I would have placed the person further to the right (in front of the second window from right) – but is sounds like a spontaneous capture, so don’t worry about it :-)
Thanks for sharing.

There is something cinematic about this shot. I think it reminds me of the movie GATTACA. The sterile, futuristic room with the panoramic view over the woods and highway down below.
To me, this could be a depiction of the coming apocalypse. The girl is at peace with the situation, whilst hundreds and thousands of people flee the city.
Beautiful and haunting at the same time. Thanks for sharing, I will definately check out your photoblog and Flickr photos.
Beautiful. So serene. I wonder what she is thinking :)
Thanks everyone. Interesting Jarle that you mention that I should have framed the photograph differently. There’s was a discussion about this very subject on Flickr but about cropping it differently.
This is an outstanding image: I really enjoy its story, and it atmosphere. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Just amazing.
Everyone else has said similar sentiments–BEAUTIFUL. Good job, good awareness.
Totally love it, love the tone and feeling. Great Job.
Cinematic, calm and simply beautiful.
Thanks John, Roy, Troy, Chaichatp & Meral. :)
