I don’t consider myself a photographer. Not even an amateur photographer. I call myself a snapshooter. Some guys in a photography forum said that I have to look for a theme, a subject. They say I take too much shots of my wife. Maybe it’s true. Maybe I’m just a guy with a camera that loves to take snaps of my everyday life and the woman that I love. I don’t know. So, here is one of my favourite photos and, surprise, my wife is the model. I took this one with an old Summarit M 50/1.5, wide open, in an ordinary night. I just opened the bathroom’s door and said “hey”. And then she looked at me in some special way while her hands got closer to her face. Is she embarrassed? Is she in love? Is she inviting me? I just love all the stories that her expression can tell. It may be just a snap… but sometimes I think a snap can be magic too. And that’s why I keep shooting. With or without a theme.
Why I use a Leica:
If I was a guitar player I would like to have a Fender Telecaster only because I am a Keith Richards fan. That’s why I use a Leica. It is a legend, a high quality tool and just feels right in my hands. And I love the bright viewfinder. My sense of composition changed completely after I started to use a Leica M. My first Leica was an M3. Now I use a M6. I know that as long as I can buy film, I will have my M6.

Hi André,

How can I say “docaralho” in English?
Very expressive portrait. You have a beautiful wife, and she has a very talented husband :) This could easily be a Leibovitz portrait printed in Vanity Fair. Gorgeous :)
