I took this photo on a rainy day at Thessaloniki, Greece. I find rainy days an excellent opportunity to go out and shoot b&w film,
and this specific location has a certain atmosphere that I like very much. The shot was taken using a Leica M6 with a Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.5 lens,
using Ilford HP5 400 film. Then I decided to clone the girl with the umbrella in Photoshop, and that totally changed the whole look of the picture, it added a
certain artistic feel that I wanted to express…
Why I use a Leica:
I find Leicas to be the ultimate tool for the kind of photography I’m interested in, focusing with a rangefinder is way better (for me) than a DSLR, and of course
it’s a camera which I can carry with me all day in a small bag and still have the image quality of a huge professional DSLR. Not to mention of course the well known
quality of the Leica glass. I also own a M8.2 which is also superb, the combination of both a film and digital Leica is the ideal equipment for my photography.

I agree – you can capture some great photos on rainy days! Personally, I’m not a big fan of photoshopped images (other than cropping, curves and other regular “darkroom stuff”).
I can see why you cloned the umbrella girl, but personally I would have preferred an unedited version. Just my opinion, of course. Thanks for sharing!
