This street shot was taken this last summer in Vancouver. It was a very strange time for me and this shot seems to make it all worth it. My main plan at the time was to take a photojournalism course but I had to cancel for various reasons. It was a crazy experience for the most part but I’m glad and have no regrets! (I guess that’s life.)
The shot was taken with my “dented” leica M4-P which was my first Leica. It has so much sentimental value (Mary Ellen Mark told me it was a lovely camera).
The lens was a Summicron C 40mm (which i filed down to bring up the 35mm lines in the viewfinder). The film was Arista bulk film from the Czech Republic (I like it better then Ilford, its turns out to be 40cents a roll).
Why I use a Leica:
The reason why I choose Leica is the feel that cannot be achieved with any other lens or body combo, but yet again I shoot russian cameras (but they have a weird smell to them, that’s not why i shoot them really!). I’ve learned its not the camera but the photographer, I just choose the best!
Richard Danielson lives in Calgary, Canada. Please visit his Flickr photostream for more Leica shots.

I like this, and the fact that all the people are perfectly frozen silhouetts but at the same time, you instantly know that this is a hectic scene with lots of movement.
