Why is this shot special for me? Well, as you can see this was shot in a bar. The Maccari Bar, in Pietrasanta. It is owned by Matteo Maccari, his grandfather Nino Maccari was a really famous and appreciated artist and painter. Pietrasanta is a really little but wonderful town full of artists coming from all over the world. There are many art galleries and unique places there. The atmosphere is magic, so each year lots of people from all the world come here to find some relaxation and peace. This Bar Maccari is Pietrasanta’s pure essence: wonderful and simple people, both Italian and foreigners, great great mood, it feels like at home. So this shot is so important for me, because every time I look at it, it reminds me perfectly of Pietrasanta and its unique atmosphere. Everybody coming around here must take a drink there, he/she will remember it forever, I am sure!
The photo was taken with M6, Summicron C 40mm, and Trix400 Film. Don’t remember shutter time, maybe 1/30, for sure it was 2.0 wide open, because of the very low light in the Bar.
Why I use a Leica:
Well, i am not absolutely a photographer, it’s not a long time, maybe about one year, I am loving photography, so this is quite strange because I usually read or know about people moving to Leica after many many years of photos, like some kind of “final” passage, or just because they want to try the magic of rangefinder. I came into Leica thanks to the Web and some forums and I immediately felt it was love. Even if I had (and still have!) so few photographic practice and skill, I jumped into Leica with M6 and Summicron C 40mm, which is still my current equipment. Since that day, the camera is always with me, every day, everywhere I go. It just says me “Hey, take some photos, use me!” This has never happened with any other camera, really. This is why Leica is special for me, it helps me everyday to understand more and more about photography and, most important, to improve my viewsight all over I have around myself!
