QuoteThis was probably the first decent shot I took on my M8 soon after buying it so It will always remain a personal favorite. It’s not a ‘Descive moment’ as such but the subject matter itself seems to get a reaction from the majority of people who see it. The soft winter daylight and the setting seem to compliment and add to the Peaceful nature of the whole scene. I was filming for a Documentary in a church and noticed this icon in the church grounds nearby. Luckily enough I had my new M8 with me to capture it before the light was gone.

Shot with a Leica M8 and the Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 ASPH.

Why I use a Leica:
I’ve used Leica for many years influenced by the many great Magnum photographers who used Leica rangefinders, especially the late Leonard Freed. My first was an M6 with a Summicron-m 2/50 which I still use today along with my M8. Some of the Finest photographs of our time were taken using Leica cameras, using one you soon come to realize why these amazing devices captured these moments.

Nigel Fairburn lives and works in London UK as a freelance Television Lighting cameraman and enjoys photography in his spare time.Check out his Flickr photostream for more of his M8 shots.
