«I took this one when I was celebrating the new year together with some friends – for my little niece because she loves to watch fireworks but was too tired to get up in the middle of night.
My father has inspired me with Leica years ago when he brought home a brand new Leica R8. I must have been 12 years old, but I was already fascinated by the quality and the feeling of this camera as well as the crisp and sharp contrast and contours. So I had no choice when it came to buy a camera but to buy a Leica. Since then I have loved the discreet way of taking pictures while shooting mostly straight from the hip without using the viewfinder, mainly on film with a Leica R8 since as a student i can not afford a digital full-size Leica (yet). This picture was taken without tripod with a Leica C-Lux 3, my always on-the-go camera.»
