This image is part of series of images I’ve taken while walking my dog in the morning. I call it my gratitude project. It allows me to be with him, as much as it allows me repeated opportunities to walk, observe and capture the same place. Through this I have learned that there are infinite possibilities to photograph the same place, and always find new dimensions or perspectives to it.
I love this particular image, because I was able to capture a very special quality of light and mood that it was present that day.
Equipment: Leica D-Lux 3, f4, 1/1000, 14.4mm, at ISO 100.
Why I use a Leica:
My first Leica was a D-Lux 3. I fell in love with the balance of image quality, manual focus and portability, in a precious and beautiful package. Since then, it’s my all around camera that goes with me every where I go. I realize that I ended up creating more images with this than with my SLR camera. Since then I have upgraded to a D-Lux 4 and recently an M8 (what an experience… more on this another time).
Martin Herrera Soler is originally from Venezuela but is now living in Montevideo, Uruguay. More of his shots can be found at his website martinHSphoto.com.

Very nice picture. Cold and warm at the same time. Amazing how a D-Lux 3 can deliver very impressive pictures (I also own one)
Congratulations to you and looking forward to watching your results with the M8.
Thanks to both of you. After this picture – which by the way prints great in 24×36 – I realized that this little camera it’s not a toy by any means of the imagination. I do a lot of my work now with the D-Lux 4 that I bought since then.

Martin, great photo, I really like your use of the light here. The mood is quite striking…-jp
I go to this park often. But I rarely see the moment like this. thanks for capturing it!
Wow that is an impressive image. I love the mood and the mist you captured. While I am sure the Leica helped capture that – I guess the photographer makes the biggest difference.
Funny finding someone with almost the same name as me who is a real Photographer.
