(Semana Santa/Easter Week/Madrid, Spain) I like this photo, because it shows the two faces of the urban life in Easter Week in the capital of Spain, Madrid. The child with his big eyes and the balloons stands for the holidays most people are enjoying. The drummers are one of the symbols in the processions during the most important week for the spanish catholics: La Semana Santa. During the Easter Week Madrid lives a flashback to ancient times. Every Semana Santa I walk around to document the different processions, one of the oldest traditions of Madrid. I took this picture with my M8. But I am also still working with film and M6.
Since 1995 I work as a correspondent for the german daily tageszeitung (www.taz.de) in Madrid. I write and shoot about the spanish reality.
Why I use a Leica:
Because I like RF-photography. Earlier I used different SLRs. Six or seven years ago a friend of mine let me handle his M7. I fell in love with RF. I noticed that RF works better for me. It is a smaller, lighter and more discret manner to shoot in the street. And if one says RF, he should say Leica.

Wonderful photo, I like the motion. It’s almost scary, the subjects, but the mother and child smiling add an interesting contrast.
