It was a small sink hole when we got to it. My boss had told us to peel back the turf, fill it in, and cover it up. Shouldn’t take more than an hour he said. But the more we dug, the bigger the sinkhole became. This photo captures the moment that Mike, our foreman, came to see our work in progress for the first time. In the end, it took us three truckloads of dirt and a whole days work to fill it.
Shot with an M6 and 35mm Summilux 1.4 on kodak tri-x film.
Why I use a Leica:
I’ve owned three Canons, one Nikon, two Hasselblads, one Mamiya and a handful of digital point and shoot cameras in my search for the camera that suits my needs. My Leica M6 and 35mm lens is the only camera system that I use now. I can comfortably wear it under my rain gear at work, it opens up to 1.4, and I don’t have to hide it from the rain and dirt. I couldn’t ask for more.

Ryan,
It’s a funny picture that show how the “body language” of human and dog in searching for something. I like it how you compose it.
Excellent photo. very curious situation. I think the lines ad to the framing as well.
Nice one!
Nicely seen and captured moment, Ryan. This is a very funny picture.
More than anything this photo shows the value of being able or willing to carry a camera with you all the time. It’s a lovely shot, but it needs the backstory (nothing wrong with that!)
