I took this picture in Hyde Park, London. It shows Speakers Corner at sunday morning for my photobook “Hyde Park People” (ISBN 70-9326-23-8).
These guys thought “Well if it is allowed to have free speech, lets talk about some subjects.” The gentlemen at the right did n’t want to be in the photograph, but it was a public place, my thoughts.
Shot with a Leica M6, 35 mm Summarit, 1/125 sec. f/8. KODAK TMY.
Why I use a Leica:
The advantage of a rangefinder camera is that the subject is not nessecary in the middle of the frame, that is why I end up with this picture. Stepping foreward, taking a shot, stepping foreward, taking another one, in this case I thought every picture could be the last. With a camera like the M6 you can litterly craw into a scene.

great image, like the foreground individual looking at the camera but slightly out of focus…you even got the speaker mid sentence pointing…nice one. — jp
Great shot! Well done!
Thanks for sharing.
With Non rangefinder cameras do subjects have to be in the middle of the frame???
this is one shot of many that I enjoyed on your website.
Very well seen and excellent contrast between the youth in the hoodie and the others. I may be wrong but I think they are members of the Nation of Islam.
