This is a portrait of famous art photographer Andrew Chezhin from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and his wife Loudmila in Andrew’s gallery PhotoImage. He’s a very warm and intelligent person, although he’s an artist. I think I managed to bring it into the frame, with my Leica’s help of course.
I’m not sure what camera it was (M6ttl or M4-2), Summicron 35mm f/2 pre-ASPH. Also I have a lot of portraits of Russian photographers taken in similar manner.
Why I use a Leica:
I like to take pictures with Leicas because of it’s “transparency”, in different meanings of this word. It is quite simple in use, almost invisible or at least makes less discomfort to people been photographed. Optics have very emotional features, I could compare them only to the best Zuiko lenses.
Alexander Orlov is an architect and a photographer living in Moscow, Russia. His blog (in Russian) is dedicated mostly to photography.
