I took this shot as part of my PAD (Picture-A-Day) Project, which I’ve been working on since July, 2009.
This theatre has been been part of the neighborhood for a very long time – I remember going to see movies there as a kid, driven by my parents on a Saturday afternoon. It closed down several years ago and has sat abandoned since then, and I’ve recently heard it’s slated to be torn down. I hope it isn’t true… It’s sad to me that old buildings like this sit vacant and forgotten while strip-malls and multiplexes lacking all style or personality are built everywhere.
This photo was taken with the Leica M8 + Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Heliar lens.
Why I use a Leica:
The majority of the photos I take for my PAD Project are shot with my M8, which I have been using now for about 3 years. As my first rangefinder camera it has opened a whole new world to me as I discovered how much I love the rangefinder method of shooting. It’s simple. It’s back-to-basics. Shooting with rangefinder cameras allows me to be the artist in control of the outcome, and my M8 gets out of the way and helps me facilitate the end result exactly as I want it.

Great photo Amy, nice addition and timing with the birds…
Outstanding perspective..
Agreed with the statement re: timing/pigeons. Great capture! How did it look without the vignette?
Amy, I love your photos!
Thanks everyone!
Really wonderful work! I love your vision of what’s around you. Every picture is “wow” to me… Well done.
