My wife and I were in Washington, D.C. last month for a concert. As we were wandering around Chinatown in the evening, I shot this person working in a concession stand. He looked lonely or perhaps just bored, which was quite a contrast to the bustle of the Chinese New Year celebration around us.
This was taken with a Leica D-Lux 4 f/2.0 at 5.1mm.
Why I use a Leica:
I am an amateur photographer and have collected an arsenal of Nikon gear. You know: the DSLR, several lenses, flash unit, remote trigger and the like. Since I got the Leica D-Lux 4, the Nikon has been collecting dust. Setting the discreet little Leica can be a bit awkward, particularly the focusing; however, the quality of the photographs is outstanding. I am preparing to sell the Nikon gear and purchase a Leica digital M.

Some very nice tones where, John. As with most B&W digital images, I do miss the film grain which I find gives texture to images such as these. However, it’s a personal taste.
Thank you. I am a relative newcomer to post processing. Have a look at my photostream to see the results of some experimentation with this and another photograph, based on your kind suggestion.
