These shots are special to me because they really are the first images I took with the Leica M8. Discovering the magic during an hour walk in the Paris streets. The temperatures outside were around -8°C, and I wore gloves, but the camera did just well.

Why I use a Leica:
I always dreamed about using a rangefinder Leica, especially an M6, but never afforded to get one. I used dslrs, mostly Nikon, which i still do. This winter, i finally reached my dream, buying a Leica M8 and a Summicron 35mm. I’m still testing and tasting it ;-) It’s very difficult to explain the feeling… I knew something like this could happen, but I can hardly put words on it. It’s like, with my Nikon I “make” pictures.. and with the Leica, I “take” pictures. Capturing the image of a moment and all the poetry and simplicity of it. No zoom, no automatic focus, no fast shooting… just a calm, slow and delicious moment to adjust the frame, light, move forward or backward instead of zooming… and press on the delightful button. It really is another approach of photography. But what a good feeling… so natural.
