QuoteOne year to the day after the 9/11/01 terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in NYC, I spotted this man in a crowd of onlookers near the site. Using an M3 with 1/50 mm Summicron lens, I moved quickly to capture the image on Tri-X film. Every time I look at this photograph, I recall the horrible event that had claimed the lives of so many innocent victims.

Why I use a Leica:
For many years I used an M2, M3, M4-2, or M6 to create photos of people and places in black and white. Please see the four examples that accompany Man with Flute. Now that I’ve received my new M9, however, I’m looking forward to moving into digital photography.

Hank Kellner lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Please visit his website hank-englisheducation.blogspot.com and creativity-portal.com/prompts/kellner for more photos and writing.
